This look started out as a “trail run,” if you will. I was a little apprehensive at first because I usually opt for shorter pencil skirts or go straight to maxi’s, never really meeting in the middle. But I thought, hey let’s try something new, fashion is all about experimentation. I decided to give this classic mid-length pencil skirt a try and I have to proclaim my new found love for midi’s. Trying different looks is all part of how I realized what I should and shouldn’t be wearing, especially since I’ve noticed my body has completely changed over the past year – dressing for your body type is the golden rule to all styling. Know Yourself. And if you’ve already caught my first Drake reference, we would be great friends ; )
More times than not, my favorite looks are constructed with minimalistic, staple pieces. All pieces I’m wearing here are black and white(ish) – silver falls into the “neutral” category. A plain white v-neck tied to the side, adding definition to my waist, a black pencil skirt and classic strap heels. Accessorized with a foldover clutch [with a strap I took off my Milly bag] and a duo-tone chain necklace [found at F21 in the mens section]. I even kept my hair in a low, messy bun. Voila. Simplicity at its finest.
